From talking to the local council (greater Taree City Council), this is the only Leash-free Canine Exercise area in Taree.

There are other areas where dogs are allowed 'Off-Leash', but they have to be under direct control of the owner.
The recent fencing of the Exercise Area has been a 'Work-for-the-Dole' initiative. There is 'pool-style' fencing on Stevenson Street, and the backyards of adjoining provide the only other fencing. As in, the Browns Creek side is open to 'Nature'.
