This statue is on the front lawn of the St-Claude church located at 80 Meunier O. in Laval-des-Rapides.
Mary, daughter of Jewish Judea, is the mother of Jesus of Nazareth. The Catholic and Orthodox Churches agree an essential role to Mary, they call Mary of Nazareth, Holy Virgin, Our Lady (more often among Catholics), or Mother of God (as in orthodox among Catholics). It is often represented on the lawn of a church or gives its name to the chapel attached to it. This woman is the Virgin Mary, who gave birth to Jesus Christ, by His sacrifice, defeated once and for all the ancient tempter. Here it is represented holding a cross with the name Jesus Christ written on it. On the base, the inscription reads 1960 N.D.dePontmain.
