"The dial is formed of a thick square stone with a south dial on the main face, and east and west gnomons on the two narrow sides. It is mounted on the apex of the roof above the entrance to the south porch, and canted out on the left hand side. A skull and wings form a scrolled pediment. Below, across the top of the dial, is lettering, possibly ‘Memento Mori 1694'. Upright numerals VI – IIII – VI, with a cross patty for noon, but no hour lines or divisions. The south gnomon, surface mounted, incorporates a deeply curved support. The small east and west gnomons have unusual forms, the east possibly representing an ‘R’."
