The line of counts of Sternberg belongs to the oldest Czech aristocratic families in the country. Its members committed themselves in the Czech political and cultural history. Their alleged grandfather Diviš lived at the beginning of the 12th century.
Unique Baroque grotto, work of renown architect of Italian origin Giovanni Battista Alliprandi from the end of the 17th century, is a small single storey freestanding rectangular garden pavillon. The whole surface of the grotto east façade is decorated by mosaic of pebbles. Above the entrance portal, situated in the middle of the east façade, is Sternbergs CoA. The interior is divided into three chambers - artificial caves. Central has an oval shape and two side chambers have square plan. Interior is currently under a complete reconstruction, exterior is reconstructed.
