Im Drei-Kaiser-Jahr regierte Friedrich III., mit vollem Namen Friedrich Wilhelm Nikolaus Karl von Preußen, von 9. März 1888 bis zum 15. Juni 1888.

Die dankbaren Bürger Homburgs stellten 1892 diese Büste am Rand des Kurparks auf.
