The staue of the first president of the independent Czechoslovak Republic, Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk was unveiled on main square of city Dobrovice on May 29, 1927 as a part of the Monument dedicated to WW I victims.

Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk, sometimes called Thomas Masaryk in English, (7 March 1850 – 14 September 1937) was an Austro-Hungarian and Czechoslovak politician, sociologist and philosopher, who as an eager advocate of Czechoslovak independence during World War I became the founder and first President of Czechoslovakia. He originally wished to reform the Habsburg monarchy into a democratic federal state, but during the First World War he began to favour the abolition of the monarchy and, with the help of the Allied Powers, eventually succeeded.

The asteroid named after him, i.e. 1841 Masaryk, provisional designation 1971 UO1, is a carbonaceous asteroid from the outer region of the asteroid belt, about 46 kilometers in diameter. It was discovered on 26 October 1971 by Czech astronomer Luboš Kohoutek at Bergedorf Observatory in Hamburg, Germany.

The asteroid orbits the Sun at a distance of 3.1–3.8 AU once every 6 years and 4 months (2,314 days). Its orbit is nearly coplanar with the ecliptic and only slighly eccentric (<0.1). It has a rotation period of 7.53 hours. The geometric albedo of the C-type asteroid is in the range of 0.036 to 0.057.
