The front of the monument contains a 3' by 6' by 1' oval relief sculpture depicting six minutemen during the Battle on the Lexington on Lexington Town Green. Five men are firing rifles and a sixth is seated on the ground with his left leg outstretched, apparently wounded. The relief is affixed to a 2' by 8' by 3' stepped granite base.

The base of the sculpture is inscribed:

THESE MEN GAVE EVERYTHING DEAR IN LIFE, YEA AND LIFE ITSELF IN SUPPORT OF THE COMMON CAUSE

The front of the granite base is inscribed:
