A small plaque on a limestone pedestal celebrates 150 years of the Brothers of the Congregation of the Holy Cross's educational ministry in the United States.
The garden is located on the southeast side of the Main Building on the St Edward's University campus.
The plaque reads as follows:
"[EMBLEM of the CSC] "To go as educators in the faith to those whose lot we share…" Constitution 2 of the Congregation of Holy Cross
St Edward’s University stands today as witness and servant to the visiton of education of the Congregation of Holy Cross.
Dedicated this 22nd day of January, 1993, at the Sorin Oak, maned for our founder, the Reverend Edward R. Sorin, C.S.C., in celebration of 150 years of Holy Cross educational ministry in the United States of America."
