Its been a century or so since hitching rings were last used regularly, but this one still stands today on the northwest side of the Williamson county courthouse square in Georgetown, Texas, as a reminder of a different time when folks came to town by horsepower, not car power.

The ring is preserved in a block of concrete with letters in it that reads as follows:

"Pat. July 17 1890"
