Apparently there has been a pub on this site since 1271 [Source - (

The pub used to have a large copper in the kitchen for brewing ale in the 1900's. The sign depicts a brewer shovelling malt, which would be used in the brewing process.
A comfy and characterful pub thanks to its traditional features; with wooden beamed ceilings, fire places and the restaurant – which used to be an old jail.
