Two main features of the park is the baskerball court and childrens play area. The park also includes some picnic tables for grabbing a meal or just a place to sit and watch over your kids. It is also known as the Candace Street Park.
Joseph P Hassett served as Director of the Department of Recreation for ten years, was the Director of the Providence Junior Police Camp (now Camp Cronin), and won multiple state championships in his combined 42 years coaching basketball at St. Patrick’s School and Our Lady of Providence Seminary. He passed away in 1989.
