The Mitre public house stands on the north east side of Bridge Street in Cambridge. The pub used a replica of a mitre as its sign.

The sign, that is in relief and not a flat board, hangs from the Bridge Street face of the pub. As one might expect, the shape is that of a bishop's mitre with the name of the pub below. The mitre is painted red, green and gold with red ribbons.

The mitre makes a visual symbol and has been used for inn signs since the 15th century especially in cathedral towns.
