Old Cemetery of Alt-Saarbruecken was opened in 1851 and, after the new Central Cemetery was opened, officially closed in 1917. Because of long term rights of use for family graves, last burial was in 2002!
In 1990, the cemetery was officially converted into a park, but in the eastern and southern areas, tombstones still remained.
Many of the historic headstones are now listed monuments!

Der Alte Friedhof in Alt-Saarbrücken wurde im Jahre 1851 eröffnet. Nach der Eröffnung des Hauptfriedholfes, wurde dieser Friedhof im Jahre 1917 offiziell geschlossen. Aufgrund langer Nutzungsrechte fand die letzte Beerdigung jedoch erst im Jahre 2002 statt.
Im Jahre 1990 wurde der Friedhof offiziell zu einem Park umgewidmet, jedoch blieben die östlichen und südlichen Grabfelder erhalten.
Viele der noch verbliebenen Grabmähler stehen mittlerweile unter Denkmalschutz!
