The monument commemorates those who have served in the Australian Special Wireless Group, of the Australian Corps of Signals in World War Two from 1942 to 1943. The monument is a bronze plaque attached to a limestone boulder near the Canning District War memorial on the corner of Wharf and George Sts,the plaque has the inscription :-
"Australian Special Wireless Group
Australian Corps of Signals
1942 - 1943
This memorial is in honour of those who served Australia so well without recognition, highly skilled in interception, monitoring and interpreting signals, in particular Japanese signals and codes.
'Not only do you not exist,you will never will have existed. You will remain for always unknown, there will be no awards, no glory, there will be no medals in this unit'"
