The China Chapel Bell was donated to Fernland Park and now hangs in a new bell tower in the NE corner of the park.

Part of the text on the plaque on the tower:

The bell belonged to the China Chapel United Methodist Church of Montgomery, TX. The church, organized by freed slaves shortly after emancipation, it is still active today.

The bell had been donated to the church by the Willis Brothers who operated a mercantile business in Montgomery at the time.

The bell was donated to Fernland in Sept. 2010.
