Težké a plíživé duševní chorobe podlehl 9. prosince 1871. Je považován za zakládající osobnost ceského výtvarnictví a nejvetšího mistra ceské malby a krajinárství.

Nápis na pametní desce:
"V této budove
bývalém hostinci "U Zlatého krížku"
maloval v únoru 1849
josef Mánes
naše hanacky"

Artistic father and uncle experienced with his education not only on him personally a strong influence, but also to his siblings Quid and Amalia. His personal life, however, very unfortunate, because the man was impractical and shy, her family also forced to reject his only love, which is never entirely recovered. Heavy and creeping insanity died on December 9, 1871. He is considered the founding personalities of the Czech visual arts and the greatest master of Czech painting and landscaping.
