In Plymouth, along the Pemigewasset River, is this stream gauge, listed on the USGS site as 01076500 Pemigewasset River.

The gauge is located on the west side of the river, along Green Street. The gauge is also visible - through trees - from the main bridge over the river north of the gauging station.

The structure is a vertical tower with stairs and a walk to the top door. There is also a door at the bottom. The doors are painted dark green. The sign on the top door shows the USGS logo.

On this structure, there is a vertical gauge. The web page on the USGS site shows a graph of discharge as cubic feet/second.

According to the historical sign, this site is the longest continuous stream gaging in New Hampshire. Daily measurement of water levels began in 1886 by the Locks and Canals Company of Lowell, Massachusetts. In 1903, the USGS, with funding from New Hampshire, started measuring at this location. At first the measurements were done on a covered bridge, then, at the present concrete structure starting in 1926.
