This part of the mission is an exact replica of what the Santa Cruz Mission would have looked like today if the earthquake in Fort Tejon in 1857 never occurred. Today it's a museum and chapel.

The plaque says, "Built on former mission land in 1932 with funds donated by Gladys Sullivan Doyle, this building was designed to house the original mission artifacts - paintings, sculptures, and ceremonial vestments and vessels. It was built as a reduced scale building / replica of what was though to be the original design of Mission Santa Cruz."
