Im Volksmund auch „Kaltnaggisch“ genannt, wurde Herrensohr ab 1856 als Bergmannskolonie planmäßig auf einer gerodeten Waldfläche errichtet, um die Wohnsituation der Bergmänner und ihrer Familien zu verbessern. 2006 feierte man das 150jährige Jubiläum. Zu diesem Anlass wurde das kleine Dorf, das seit der Gebietsreform 1974 ein Stadtteil von Saarbrücken ist, mächtig herausgeputzt. Dabei wurde auch dieses schmucke Willkommensschild aufgestellt. Auf dem Bild sind die beiden Kirchen abgebildet, die Sporthalle, eine Schule, das Feuerwehrgerätehaus und sogar der Sulzbach, der südlich am Ort vorbeifließt.

The village "Herrensohr", also known as "Kaltnaggisch", was founded in 1856 on drawing board to improve the housing conditions for the miners. Today, Herrensohr is a district from Saarbrücken. In 2006, there was the 150-year-old anniversary celebration. For this reason, the nice welcome sign was created. You can see on the picture: the two churches, the sports hall, the school, the fire station and even the Sulzbach, a small river near the village.
