Mabie is a cracking wee forest a few miles south of Dumfries on the A710. It's very popular with locals and their dogs.
There is an extensive kids play area, and a separate dog walking trail area.
Mabie has excellent mountain biking for all skills levels and with the arrival of the Bike Shed (waymark) on site, all bike hire, repairs, clothing and refreshment needs will be catered for. Staff at The Bike Shed can also offer advice on all the 7stanes trails and other activities on site, which include attractive forest walks, loads of wildlife and very importantly an amazing playpark for the kids (waymark). You can use their web forum to make contact with other bikers in the area for advice also.
The main place to stay for overnight trips to Mabie would be Dumfries, which is only five minutes away by car. Dumfries has pubs, restaurants, shops and a cinema. Plenty of guest houses, hotels, Bed and Breakfasts in the surrounding area too, as well as caravan and camping sites. see waymarks
DIY bike wash available for a small donation to trail upkeep, on outside corner of bike shop at concreted drain away area and tap. Bring your brushes. Shop supplies hose.

DIRECTIONS
This turning is easily missed as its on a corner and confused with nearby Mabie Farm Park. (see gallery)
Turn off A710 main road at N 55 01.203 W 03 37.982 (waymark Octagon Building) follow signs for hotel, and turn into Forestry Commission car park before entering hotel grounds.
