Lancelot Richard Allinson was just seven years old when he gained the sad honour of being the first person to be interred in this cemetery. His epitaph appears on the headstone of the family plot along with his twin brother & sister who died within days of one another. The wording on the polished granite headstone is as clear today as the day it was erected:
In Loving Memory

of Lancelot Richard Allinson

who died 28th October 1883 aged 7 years.

The first to be interred in this cemetery.
