Building the steel-and-granite monument basically finished work on the Veterans War Memorial of Texas, located at Galveston Avenue and South 29th Street near the Convention Center. Plans for an expensive educational center, which would have surrounded the five-sided spire, appear likely to remain on the drawing board.
