This Grade II* listed church is of late C12th build, altered in the C14th and a north aisle added in c1895. It has the standard west tower to the central aisle, and partial aisles to the chancel built of squared coursed limestone with gritstone dressings. The roofs are slate with decorative ridge tiles.
This sundial is on the gable end of the south porch and is quite ordinary except for the heavy gnomon and its supporting wrought iron scroll-work. The hour markings are quite feint but can be made out as being from VII [am] to IIII [pm] with corresponding radial marks. At the top of the dial to the right of the gnomon is a date, 1721?.
