The sign hangs from the face of the pub in Newnham Street. The sign has a brown background with the name of the pub, "Three Cups", in the bottom right corner coloured white. The three cups, that look more like sporting trophies, are drawn above and left of the name. They are coloured black so are hard to see against the brown backdrop.
The sign was around in the 16th century and refers to the Worshipful Company of Salters who were producers and sellers of sea salt.
