[FR] À l’extérieur, il imagine un écran de verre prolongeant la perspective du boulevard Raspail : un mur-rideau qui inclut dans le lieu un cèdre du Liban planté par Chateaubriand en 1823. Au-dessus de l’entrée du bâtiment, se déploie un mur végétal commandé en 1998 au spécialiste de botanique tropicale Patrick Blanc, créateur de ce concept original. Ses façades se prolongent sur chacun de ses flancs, intégrant parfaitement le jardin à l’architecture. Tour à tour vitres ou miroirs, les parois de verre laissent entrevoir les œuvres exposées ou réfléchissent les nuages et l’espace urbain. Véritable palais des glaces, l’immeuble se métamorphose ainsi selon les heures du jour ou de la nuit.
[EN] Outside, he designed a glass curtain wall running parallel with the boulevard Raspail and screening off the Lebanese cedar tree planted by Chateaubriand in 1823. Above the entrance is a “plant wall” commissioned in 1998 from Patrick Blanc, a specialist in tropical botany who invented this unusual concept. The main body of the building is set back from the boulevard and the façades on each side extend outward, seamlessly merging the garden with the building itself. Acting in turn as windows and mirrors, the glass walls offer glimpses of the works on show and reflect the clouds and the cityscape.
A veritable “hall of mirrors”, the building constantly changes as the day or night progresses.
