World's Smallest Police Station - Ridgeway, SC - Roadside Attractions on Waymarking.com

This small town, population 311, in central SC evidently that does not have a need for a large police force has two police buildings. The smaller of the two is the historical police station, claims to be the worlds smallest police station. A sign above the door 10' wide by 19' deep. It only has room for one person. Today the unmanned station is used provide pamphlets containing tourist information. Before it was the police station it was the town well. As a WPA project, the well was covered up and the police station was built in 1940. A sign above the door is inscribed:

The new police station, once the town garage, is just a few feet to the north. It is 16' wide by 34' deep and is next to an outdoor phone booth. Interesting, there are two signs on the door that say the same thing:
