"Richard Sackett served as an officer throughout the American Revolutionary War. He rose to become a Captain in the 2nd Midland Regiment. He was captured by the British but later exchanged. After the War he was commissioned Lieutenant Colonel Commandant of the Westchester County Regiment of Militia. His estate was to be shared equally between his two sons after making financial provision for his wife and two daughters. Executors of the will were to be his sons Nathaniel and Caleb, together with Colonel Richard's cousin Richard Sackett of Bedford. "
