The Cobra AH-1F was the Army's oldest Attack Helicopter. This version was deployed to Southeast Asia. Below is the information from the plaque mounted by this aircraft.

JULY 27,1969 DAMAGED BECAUSE OF WEAPONS MALFUNCTION (1142 HOURS COMBAT FLOWN).
FEB. 6, 1970 SHOT DOWN BY HEAVY ENEMY GROUND FIRE WHILE PROVIDING ARMED ESCORT TO MEDIVAC HELICOPTERS: BOTH CREWMAN WOUNDED (1792 HOURS FLOWN)
APRIL 15, 1970 DAMAGED WHILE PROVIDING DIRECT FIRE SUPPORT TO INFANTRY (1954 HOURS FLOWN)
JULY 13, 1970 SHOT DOWN BY HEAVY SMALL ARMS FIRE WHILE PROVIDING SUPPORT FOR AN ARMED ESCORT MISSION (2092 HOURS FLOWN)
JAN. 19, 1971 SEVERELY DAMAGED BY HOSTILE FIRE WHILE PROVIDING DIRECT ESCORT PROTECTION TO GROUND TROOPS (2471 HOURS FLOWN)

She has 5 Purple Hearts for damage from enemy fire. Each time, she was retrieved, repaired, and sent out to fight again. Her cockpit has been splattered with blood from both the pilot and weapons officer. The most important fact about this aircraft is that all that flew with her lived!

She now resides at the Veteran’s Memorial Park in Dixon, Illinois. Veteran's Memorial Park was dedicated Sept. 10, 2006. It is located next to Highway 2 on the west side of town.
