Long Description:The Sheffield Speed Skating Oval in Lake Placid, NY was used in the
1932 and 1980 Winter Olympics. Jack Shea became the first person to
win 2 gold medals, when he won in 1932, and Eric Heiden won 5 gold
medals in the 1980 Winter Olympics. It is still used in wintertime
for public skating.
If you visit this waymark, you will see the Lake Placid High
School behind the speed skating oval, and the Olympic Arena off to
the right (where the USA Hockey team won nthe Gold Medal)...I'm a
teacher in the high school, wave towards the middle window on the
3rd floor, maybe I'll see you...
