Constructed in 1912, this railroad bridge has spanned the Salt River through drought, flood and the creation of the Tempe Town Lake. The original bridge carried the Maricopa and Phoenix railroad but it collapsed after the flood of 1902. The Southern Pacific operated on the current bridge, now the Union Pacific. The local light rail line operates on a nearby bridge.
