This historical cairn was located south side of Assiniboine River and west side of Hwy 9. Fort Hibernia was located on north side of this river not far from coordinates.

Fort Alexandria

Fort Alexandria was built in 1795 in the upper Assiniboine River by the North West Company. It closed in 1805, then reopened in 1807 until the union of the Northwest Company and the Hudson Bay company in 1821.

Fort Alexandria was built by Pierre Falcon of the North Westers and was staffed by a New Englander named Daniel William Harmon.

Daniel William Harmon wrote numerous diaries which became a book called, A Journal of Voyages and Travels of the Interior of North America.
