The Flag Pole is on the far East end of a small island in the river Lahn.
The plaque in front of the pole reads: "Wir Gedenken aller Seeleute die in Erfüllung ihrer Pflichten von grosser Fahrt nicht mehr zurückkehrten." (We commemorate all seamen who did not return in performance of their duties.)
