In addition to the detail common of zinc headstones, this one has funeral draping near the plinth on both sides, with a pair of angels on the plinth on the front. The inscription is:

Mrs. Nancy
B.
Payne,

Wife of Dr.
James M. Payne

Born
Jan. 3, 1807,

Died
Feb. 27, 1882.

On the reverse is an epitaph:

Dear mother, in earth's
thorny paths,
how long thy feet have
trod!
To find at last the
peaceful rest,
safe in the arms of God.

Further down on the plinth is an additional line:

Bidding us come and rest with thee.
