The Caves
Very cutely decorated inside with red and white checkerboard tablecloths, pastel colors and a huge sea motif murals in the dining room, on entering one immediately sees that this is definitely NOT a chain franchise.
The Caves has several choices as to eating location, with a dining room, a lounge and a patio for alfresco dining by the sea. The restaurant is REALLY by the sea as, when the tide is in, it virtually laps at the edge of the patio.
The two specialties here are their
World Famous Award Winning Chowder and
Live Lobster. Most all their seafood is straight from the town's fishing fleet which docks about a half kilometre away, around the horn in St. Martin's Harbour. For the landlubbers in the crowd they will grudgingly ;^) prepare a burger platter, as well as sandwiches and garden fresh salads.
With seating for 250, they are able to handle large groups and tour busses with aplomb. BTW, their chowder, a seafood medley of lobster, haddock, and scallops, is truly sensational!
