The Bulldog has been the mascot of South Carolina State University since 1927 when the institution was known as the South Carolina State Agriculture and Mechanical Institute. This larger than life, gold colored, bulldog was sculpted by Steve Zouras and unveiled in August 2003. It sits on top of a brick wall on which is inscribed the name of the university. The sculpture is based on a smaller bulldog sculpture located in front of Donma Administration Building.
