The churchyard of St Helen's Bishopsgate has been paved over with just a few grave stones remaining some stones form part of the paving. The gravestones are to be found to the west of the church in Great St Helen's.

The church dates from the 12th century with alterations having been made over the years. The church was restored and re-ordered in 1995 following damage caused by terrorist bombings in 1992 and 1993.
One of the gravestones has an inscription that, in the most part, can be read:

beloved wife of
Mr John Freeman
who died August 4th 1881
aged 72 years

Mr Thomas Edwards
son-in-law to the above
who died Novr 2nd 1830
aged 31
