This grand old tree seems to be deep in thought according to the face in the protruding burl. Perhaps it is studying all those passing by on their hikes through the woods. The opposite side of the entwining trunks, two claw-like legs grasp at the bark. The tree is just a short walk from the parking lot. It is located in Rice Lake State Park 7 miles east of Owatonna.
