Long Beach’s Museum of Latin American Art has received the highest national recognition for a museum — accreditation from the American Alliance of Museums.
“Accreditation from the American Alliance of Museums is a great honor and an important milestone for MoLAA as the museum prepares to celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2016,” MoLAA president and CEO Stuart A. Ashman said in a release.
AAM Accreditation recognizes accountability, high professional standards and institutional development. The stages of accreditation include a yearlong period of self-study and visits by peer reviewers. During that time, all aspects of the museum’s operations are scrutinized.
“I am pleased and excited to share this achievement with MoLAA’s board and staff and would like to thank them for their support throughout the accreditation process,” Ashman said.
MoLAA is one of 247 AAM-accredited museums in California. Other Long Beach museums with AAM accreditation include the University Art Museum at Cal State Long Beach and the Long Beach Museum of Art."
