A fountain, a street light and a horse trough combined, this iron trough is sufficiently unique as to have become a Smithsonian Art Inventory Sculpture, where it is described thus:

A drinking trough for horses consisting of a round bowl atop a cylindric base. Within the bowl is a decorative column topped with a lamp. At the base of this column are four dolphins spouting water.

Below the bowl of the trough, on the supporting column, is embossed the year in which it was erected, 1905, as well as the fact that the trough was patented.

The cast iron fountain/trough/street lamp has been preserved by the town and now stands in a small park, Granite Grange Memorial Park, just south of Main Street, between Elm and Leach Streets. It was relocated to this park in 1988, from where is anyone's guess.
Year built or dedicated as indicated on the structure or plaque: 1905

Full Inscription (unless noted above):
Erected 1905 Patented
