Words are waned in comparison to actually seeing these amazing wood sculptures in person. Indeed interactive, and crowds gather here to have that "Sit By Me" experience. Locals to tourist and passersby are drawn in to see what the fun is all about.

There are eleven larger-than-life human figures represented in the sculpture. There is a man reading the newspaper complete with cigarette dangling from his mouth, or hop on the motorcycle. Interact with the mother and child and Keith or just stand in the crowd of "Waiting People"

This is a photo opt you will not want to miss and remember take lots of pictures like they say, "If it's not in the scrapbook, it didn't happen".

There is a sign board with information about this amazing artist John Hooper who sadly passed away in 2006. It is transcribed as follows;

"My hope is that people will be involved and interested in the sculpture, and get to know these (wooden) people as well as I do."

John Hooper (1927-2006)

People fascinated John Hooper. He received the Order of Canada for creating public sculptures that celebrate the extraordinary in ordinary people, such as his Terry Fox bronze near Parliament Hill in Ottawa. People Waiting, carved from Philippine mahogany, was commissioned by Canada Post in 1975 as part of a federal program dedicating 1% of public building costs to art.

The humour of these larger-than-life figures breaks down barriers to art and invites viewers to interact with and become part of the sculpture.

John Hooper adds the lettering that tells the story of the sculptures to the newspaper being held by the businessman on the far right.

Even before being painted, the motor-cycle riders seem engaged in conversation.
