A plaque at the start of the Lock bridge states; "In proud remembrance of the Men who served" and gives details of the Battle of Trafalgar, also those present at the opening ceremony on 25th October 2005. The plaque is shown in full in this listing's photo gallery.

The Trafalgar Bridge completes the Afon Towy Barrage project.
A pedestrian & cycle bridge, crossing the River Towy between, the Maritime Quarter & SA1 Swansea Waterfront.
The 300 feet long Trafalgar Bridge is a combination bridge consisting of a moving portion over the Marina & Barrage lock gates combined with a 250 feet long through truss bridge, crossing the Afon Tawe River.

The 'Swansea Barrage' or the official name 'River Tawe Barrage' - Completed in 1992 creating a new marina at the mouth of the Afon Tawe River. The Barrage & Fish Pass are located at the Maritime Quarter, Swansea, South Wales.

"This was the UK’s first barrage across an estuary designed for amenity. Construction started in 1990 and ended in 1992, when the Tawe was impounded to create a long lake. Previously mudflats had been exposed along the banks by each falling tide.

The barrage features a fish pass, for salmon and sea trout to return from the sea to their native rivers to spawn. Initially there was a drop in the numbers of fish reaching the lower Tawe. The fish pass was therefore improved in 2000. The lake north of the barrage is mainly freshwater, but the barrage was designed to allow high tides to overtop to maintain the brackish environment needed by migratory fish at this stage in their journeys."
