This memorial recalls the deployment of Gurkha soldiers by the British. The memorial was unveiled on December 3, 1997 by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

It bears the inscription:
"The Gurkha Soldier. Bravest of the brave, most generous of the generous, never had country more faithful friends than you."

The bronze statue is about lifesize and shows a Gurkha in a uniform probably worn during the Great War.
