Needles is on the west side of Arrow Lakes and Fauquier is on the east side, with a 10 minute ferry ride between them. Each side has a rest area for those waiting, even though waits are only about 25 minutes or so. Fauquier is a small town while, across the lake, there isn't actually anything more than a rest area and the ferry landing at Needles.
The Needles Ferry on Highway 6 crosses Upper Arrow Lake at Fauquier. It's a little diesel driven ferry that can accommodate about 20 cars. According to the sign it runs from 5:15 AM to 9:45 PM, but will also shuttle you across after hours in a pinch. Crossing only takes about 10 minutes. This ferry is one of the many free ferries run by the province of BC in the interior.
