DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1968 IN MEMPHIS. THIS MARK IS AT THE HIGH 1959 TRAVERSE STATION SITE ON THE GROUNDS OF THE HELLENIC ORTHODOX CHURCH IN THE SOUTHWEST ANGLE OF THE INTERSECTION OF NORTH HIGHLAND STREET AND GALLOWAY AVENUE, ABOUT 6 MILES EAST-NORTHEAST OF DOWNTOWN MEMPHIS AND 0.15 OF A MILE SOUTH OF THE INTERSECTION OF SUMMER AVENUE (U.S. HIGHWAY 70) AND NORTH HIGHLAND STREET. IT IS 116.27 FEET NORTH-NORTHWEST OF REFERENCE MARK NO. 3, 78.91 FEET NORTH-NORTHEAST OF THE STATION MARK, 63 FEET WEST OF THE APPROXIMATE CENTER OF NORTH HIGHLAND STREET, 54 FEET NORTH-NORTHWEST OF THE SOUTHEAST CORNER OF THE MAIN CHURCH BUILDING, 30 FEET NORTH OF A LARGE, FORKED TRUNKED OAK TREE, 1.3 FEET SOUTH OF THE NORTH EDGE OF THE SIDEWALK LEADING TO THE SOUTHEAST ENTRANCE INTO THE CHURCH, AND ABOUT 0.8 OF A FOOT BELOW THE ELEVATION OF THE STATION. IT IS A STANDARD REFERENCE MARK DISK CEMENTED IN A DRILL HOLE IN THE SIDEWALK LEADING TO THE CHURCH ENTRANCE AND THE DISK IS STAMPED HIGH NO 1 1959. NOTE-- THIS MARK SHOULD BE USED WITH CAUTION, AS THERE IS SOME EVIDENCE OF MOVEMENT IN THE SIDEWALK IN WHICH THE DISK IS CEMENTED.
