TSGT Richard C. Smith II, USAF - Smithfield, Pennsylvania

This Bench was placed here sometime after 2010 in Memory of Technical Sergeant Richard "Ricky" Smith. He was originally from Smithfield and served his country in the Air Force Security Forces. Serving since 1998, when he was 18 years of age, Ricky served for 12 years.

In August 2010, Ricky was diagnosed with three types of Cancer, AML, ALL and T-cell precursor. His fight began with rounds of chemo. After 3 rounds of chemo there were no more cancer cells. Unfortunately, due to the rounds of chemo his immune system was not what it should be. He had a VRE infection and fluid on his lungs and lost the battle in October 2010 while serving his country.
