The nice stone are now memorials to millers of long ago in the Montgomery County area. Located now on NC 73 outside Ellerbe, NC in Richmond County, they servue as reminder of a time gone by.

The stones are placed in local sandstone wall with engraved surfaces with names two millers from Montgomery County. Henry Deberry, 1758-1818, owned a mill along Clark’s Creek. L G Barringer was a miller in the Montgomery County area. This area of Richmond and Montgomery Counties are endowed with multiple streams and creeks with suffucient flow to power water mills.
