Built in 1861 as a 3" muzzle loader, the cannon was converted to a breech loader after the civil war. The conversion included a reduction of the bore size in the chamber, allowing it to fire only blanks. It was used at the fort to signal reveille and retreat. The cannon bears serial number 15.
