Lake Medora is a 695 acre lake near Copper Harbor MI. There is a public boat ramp off of U.S. 41 to access the lake. There are several islands on the lake that people camp on. At one time this lake had a good population of Walleye and Smallmouth Bass now the DNR is stocking with a brook trout/lake trout hybrid.
"Beginning in 2015, the DNR plans to introduce splake (brook trout/lake trout hybrids) as predators to control yellow perch and to stock fall fingerling steelhead-strain rainbow trout (rainbows are less dependent on minnows than other predators). The challenge, according to DNR fisheries biologist George Madison, is that the vast, shallow, cobble shoals in the lake provide ideal spawning habitat for the resident smallmouth bass, which are present in dominant numbers and large sizes - so much so, that fisheries managers worry the bass may prey on the rainbow trout."
