"Dirty Biter" was a comical looking dog, mostly from a broken jaw he sustained when he was just a pup in the early 1970's. He would go home with anyone, since he was owned by everyone in the town. He frequented the 1890s Tavern where a bar stool was reserved for him. His favorite dish was the "broasted chicken" according to the plaque commemorating his life. Dirty Biter ended up dying in 1982 in a tragic dogfight. A First Street park now bears his name, right next to his beloved tavern.
