This simple plaque, donated by the Club 41, refers to the birthplace of Aimé de Lemud. The inscription (English translation in italics) reads:

François-Joseph-Aimé Georges de Lemud, named 'Aimé de Lemud', (* 19 September 1816 in Thionville; † 9 April 1887 in Nancy) began studying law in Metz. After giving up the desired by the family military career he moved to Paris and tries to live by his art on its own.
Around 1834/35 he began to publish drawings in the newspaper. Soon after, he became known for his mastery of lithography: His lithograph Maître Wolfrain (1838), based on a story by E.T.A. Hoffmann, had some success in bourgeois society. Being one of the first French romantic artists, he illustrated among other the works of Victor Hugo.
In 1865, he was named 'chevalier de la Légion d'honneur' in recognition of his engraving work.
